Families & Chronic Illness
Words of wisdom
This clip shows a group of young Indigenous people reflecting on what they have learnt from caring for a family member with a chronic illness. They stress how important it is for carers to keep discussing the stresses of their role with those they trust and to ask for support when they need it. They also talk about what they have personally gained from the experience. This clip is part of a series in which young people speak about living in families where a family member has a chronic illness.
These Speaking from Experience clips feature nine young Indigenous people who share their experiences of living with a family member with a chronic illness. It was produced in partnership with the Chronic Illness Alliance and Aboriginal Medical Service of Western Sydney.
