Asthma in Childhood

Video is Loading...

Asthma is an inflammatory condition of the airways which causes them to narrow in response to a wide range of trigger factors. The narrowing is caused by muscle constriction, inflammation of the lining of the airways and excess mucus production. Common symptoms are coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and difficulty in breathing.

In these 'Speaking from Experience' video clips, parents and young people themselves offer candid accounts of their experiences surrounding diagnosis, treatment, schooling, medication, self management and their thoughts on the future. They were produced in partnership with The Asthma Foundation of Victoria.
