Depression is a serious mental illness in which a person is in a state of low mood. This is characterized by negative thoughts and behaviors of the individuals that are not short-lived and interferes with the individual's daily activities. Although there is no single cause for depression, many factors such as genetics, chemical imbalances, stress, negative events and illnesses can contribute to the condition. Similar to other medical illnesses, depression can be treated. Support from close ones and the society is also important in the recovery process. This 'Speaking from Experience' program offers first-hand accounts from people living with Depression. They discuss the ways it has impacted their lives and how they manage the condition. It was produced in partnership with the Singapore Association for Mental Health.
