Young People & Asthma
Words of wisdom
This clip shows five young people discussing what they have learnt from their experience of living with asthma. Resilience emerges as a strong theme and the young people highlight the value of knowing their bodies and their limits, and of not allowing asthma to get in the way of achieving their goals. They emphasise the importance of having ready access to reliever medication, and of informing people about their asthma. They discuss influencing asthma awareness and how important it is for those around them not to panic when they have an attack. This clip is one of a series in which young people talk about living with asthma.
These Speaking from Experience clips offer first-hand accounts from 6 young people who are living with asthma. They discuss the impact that it has had on their lives and the ways they manage this chronic condition. It was produced in partnership with The Asthma Foundation and Aboriginal Medical Service of Western Sydney.
