Young People & Asthma
Support
This clip shows six young people with asthma discussing the importance of those closest to them. They explain how friends and family help observe their asthma symptoms, remind them to take medication and help them when they are unwell. The students also discuss the value of the broader support network that includes teachers, school nurses and peers, and they stress the value of an Asthma Action Plan and how people can assist during an asthma attack. This clip is one of a series in which Indigenous and non-Indigenous young people talk about living with asthma.
These Speaking from Experience clips offer first-hand accounts from 6 young people who are living with asthma. They discuss the impact that it has had on their lives and the ways they manage this chronic condition. It was produced in partnership with The Asthma Foundation and Aboriginal Medical Service of Western Sydney.
