This clip shows young people with type 1 diabetes describing a range of issues specific to their education. They talk about the role of their friends, principals, teachers and school nurses in helping them to manage their diabetes at school, and about some of the difficulties associated with being ill at school. Several of them explain the effects that diabetes can have on performance in tests and exams, mentioning strategies to cope with them. This clip is one in a series showing young Indigenous and non-Indigenous people talking about their experience of type 1 diabetes.

These Speaking from Experience clips features seven young people talking about the ways in which type 1 diabetes has affected their life. It was produced in partnership with Diabetes Australia VIC and Aboriginal Medical Service of Western Sydney.
