This clip shows young Indigenous and non-Indigenous people talking about their experience of type 1 diabetes. They were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as children, between the ages of 4 and 16. They describe their symptoms at the onset of illness and talk about the effect of their diagnosis on themselves and their families. This clip is the first in a series in which young people speak about their experience of living with type 1 diabetes.

These Speaking from Experience clips features seven young people talking about the ways in which type 1 diabetes has affected their life. It was produced in partnership with Diabetes Australia VIC and Aboriginal Medical Service of Western Sydney .
