A stroke is a brain attack, which can affect thinking, movement, speech and/or senses, and is caused by blockage or rupture of a blood vessel within or surrounding the brain. Stroke is a medical emergency – getting to a hospital quickly is vital for a good outcome. A stroke can occur at any age, even in babies and infants.

These 'Speaking from Experience' video clips offer first-hand accounts from people who experienced stroke after the age of 50. They discuss the impact it has had on their lives and the ways in which they manage its effects.

'Stroke in Later Years' was produced in partnership with the Pacific Stroke Association. PSA’s mission is to reduce the incidence of stroke through education and to help alleviate stroke’s devastating aftermath through support programs for stroke survivors and caregivers.
